Super Bowl (err…I mean “The Big Game”) weekend gives a great excuse to try a bunch of beers, and I’m certainly taking advantage of that fact. Thus far I’ve had four different beers this weekend, and I have two more to try. I tried the Pete’s Wanderlust Cream this afternoon while watching the pre-game show. We hadn’t broken out any of the snacks yet, so it was quaffed unaccompanied. Cream ale tends to be a hit or miss affair for my taste buds, and this one was a hit, but only a bloop single over the third baseman’s head.
The bottle poured to a nice light amber color, and there was a pleasant pale head with a nice aroma of vanilla or cream. The sweetness one expects from a cream ale was there, and the hops were very mellow, just adding a note of bitterness. Overall, this is a very nice beer. Nothing too special, but well worth trying.
