Holy crap, I love Portland. I just got an email from one of my favorite downtown restaurants, Vignola, announcing the beginning of their fall series of Belgian Beer Dinners. Next Wednesday, they’ll be highlighting the following three Belgian Beers:
- Delirium Tremens, Strong Pale Ale, Brouwerij Huyghe
- Gouden Carolus, Strong Dark Ale, Brouwerij Het Anker
- Kasteelbeir, Quadrupel Ale, Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck
For those who didn’t get the email, the menu is as follows (for some reason it appears to be missing from the web page):
- First: Shrimp and zucchini fritters with white ale remoulade
- Second: Slow-roasted duck leg with beer fruit glaze and pickled beets
- Third: Choice of roasted salmon with leeks, thyme, and white ale-braised cabbage, fennel, and endive, or quail and bacon braised in tripel ale with white ale and sour cream potato and braised cabbage
The cost is $50.08 per person, tax and gratuity included. Reservations are required. If you want to go, you can call Vignola at 207/772-1330. Perhaps I’ll see you there.
