Received in my email today from Vignola, in the Old Port in Portland (Maine, for those of you new to the blog):
Join us on Saturday, January 19, for an afternoon of Belgian beer at Vignola! Our Second Annual Belgian Beer and Cheese Tasting is a fun opportunity to experience 30 top-tier Belgian and Belgian-style beers perfectly paired with 25 artisan cheeses from around the world.
The good people from Allagash Brewing Company and Wicked Wines will be on hand, pouring their finest. Theyre strong advocates of crafting excellent beers that pair well with food, and are glad to offer advice and suggestions.
Belgian-style beers, in particular, offer a range of flavors that complement great food, and Saturday is your chance to sample some of the best. Well showcase an excellent selection of domestic and imported artisan cheeses that range from firm, cows milk cheeses to some pungent, gooey offerings. We guarantee you’ll enjoy them!
Tickets and reservations are required, and we expect a full house. To reserve, contact Vignola at 772-1330.
Unfortunately, I will be at reBar in DUMBO, NYC enjoying their fine selection of Belgian and other beers instead. Oh, and the owner is a fraternity brother, so I’ll be enjoying them at a discount. Too bad I’ll miss the fun at Vignola though…
