Jan,

I was typing up my thoughts on Allagash Night this morning too, but it seems you beat me to the punch. I stopped in for about 45 minutes last night. The beer was fabulous (though I was driving, so I could only try the tripel rosalare) and the cheese selections quite interesting as well.

My only complaint was that it was very warm inside, and raining outside, so I couldn't really go out to cool off. Perhaps a few large window fans to move the air through the space would help. I know that's a fairly minor detail, but hot, humid conditions make for a less-than-optimal cheese experience.

I'll certainly be there next week for Sam and the Dogfish crew. I'll line up transportation too, as I'm sure I won't be able to resist trying more than one...

Heh, yeah, none of the beer I drink is even close to being less than the cost of gas, but I just had to post it...

Not sure which beer you're talking about is cheaper than gas. Maybe stuff like Keystone Light. But the beer I drink cost more per gallon than gas does still. The stuff I drink cost about $24 per gallon. Let's hope gas doesn't ever get that pricey!

Yet, it's a nice t-shirt. Looks good.

Nicole,

Thanks for the encouragement. I think it'll be fun to have some other beer drinkers and commentators to hang out with and talk about good beer. Who knows, maybe I can even get a few of them to start writing something for this blog and have the 's' on the end of my domain name actually mean something again! :-)

Wow, what a fantastic idea. My blog is not beer related but I support this grassroots effort (and your logo is fun too). Can't wait to read more about it.

Paul,

Please note that I did not suggest the name "ladies size" for the glasses. I actually drink quite a bit of Belgian beer, and it's most often served in smaller chalices. I want the glasses for home, both for myself and my wife. I already have chalices for my Belgians, but there are some styles that just work better with a true pint glass.

It's a bit sexist suggesting small glasses are only for the ladies. Small glasses afford you the luxury to try more beer. Belgium beer which is usually stronger than UK/US beers are normally served in 33cl glasses. Beer drinking needs to be a genderless sport.
